In my neck of the woods we still have both the "new" sealing cans as well as the old "need to pierce" cans. I recently bought a tap for the new cans, but my old piercing tap gave up the ghost. SO I needed a low cost replacement to have on hand for when I get a bunch of the "old" cans. This tap was perfect for this. OH this has the 1/2 acme fitting as did my old tap, allows me to use without the need for an adapter. Happy with purchase.

It worked for my purpose, but I found it difficult to get the refrigerant flowing. Flow stops if you unscrew the valve all the way after puncturing the seal. I had to keep the valve in the middle position. Even then the flow was quite slow. I do not know if this is normal, but it is not what I expected. I do know that the AC Pro resealable cans and hoses work much faster.Also, this valve is not compatible with the resealable cans that have a rubber stopper instead of a metal seal.

I bought this unit to replace another that had its seals fail. This unit did not have enough travel to pierce self sealing cans. I ended up just replacing the o rings in my old unit. Thumbs down.

Needed this for my new manifold set of gauges. It looked like good quality but when getting ready to hook it up noticed that one of the threads was not cut right, as I needed it right away I used a tiny thread file to straighten the thread up and installed it. So far it has worked flawlessly.
