It's not sweet. It's not alcoholic tasting. It literally tastes like the smokey char of a barrel aged liquid that just happens not to be alcohol 🔥 It's amazing and useful for not just that fancy hot chocolate you could make, but also cocktails, cocktails, and marinades 🥩 liquid smoke from the store can taste astringent, but this syrup works wonders for home cooking and home drinking alike! Definitely worth a try, if you think you're into that sort of thing.

Tastes like sweetened liquid smoke
I was hoping for more of an oak flavor from this product. Unfortunately, Monin decided to focus more on the smoke than the oak. If you're looking for a smokey finish to your beverage, then this may work, although it would be much cheaper to simply use any liquid smoke. If you're looking for an oak flavor, look for a pure oak extract such as Shank's White Oak Extract.
